Decapitated body without organs recovered from Hooghly River

Kolkata: Tension reigned near the city’s Baje Kadamtala ghat after a decapitated decapitated body of a man was found floating in the Hooghly River on Monday morning.

Police said at around 11:15 a.m. on Monday, West Port Police Station was told by river traffic police cops of a decapitated body floating in the water near the 1 ghat botanical garden.

Immediately, a police team reached the Baje kadamtala ghat where the body was recovered with the help of the river traffic police.

It was later found that the abdomen of the body was open and there were no internal organs.

Although police initially recorded a case of unnatural death, cops doubt the man was murdered and the organs harvested.

The disbelievers had cut off the head in order to keep the unidentified body. Police circulated a message from everyone involved to all state police stations with details of the body. The body was sent for autopsy.

Cops suspect that an organ smuggling racket could be involved in the incident.

Police are awaiting responses from other police stations adjacent to West Port and Howrah City Police regarding anyone who has been missing in recent days.

Meanwhile, further investigation of the incident is underway.
