Rixo AW22, “The Golden Age” show was inspired by the 1930s, “the golden age of glamor for women’s fashion, the collection celebrates the opulence and splendor depicted on Hollywood movie screens at the time”, explains the brand.
“The collection celebrates glamor and celebration,” says Rixo co-founder Henrietta Rix. “This collection is our first extended size range from size 6 to 24, after years of perfecting the fit, it’s such a proud moment for us to be able to offer this.
Along with plenty of new silhouettes, sustainably sourced feathers, glitter and sequins, Rixo’s signature holiday pieces have been worn with what ghd’s chief hairstylist and UK ambassador James Earnshaw calls a version modern of the Hollywood wave of the 1930s.
“This season’s hair look is all about embracing your authentic self – Rixo truly embodies your self-expression and is exactly who you want to be,” says Earnshaw. “The hair was inspired by 1930s glamor with a hint of 1970s trends with lots of shine, volume and movement.”
Key to creating the look is the new ghd Thin Wand, £150, a 14mm thin barrel that creates long-lasting curls without using extreme heat. Using a temperature of 185°C, it heats up in 30 seconds to deliver tight, healthy, bouncy curls and to enhance the natural texture of any hair length and curl type.
“I love the new ghd Thin Wand because it can be used on so many hair types to create so many different styles,” says Earnshaw. “For those with naturally textured hair, the wand can be used to contour or define curls, or for the Rixo AW22 hair look, it was used to create detailed shiny waves. The best part – it’s so quick and easy to use, the long barrel creates a curl in just 3 seconds! It’s my secret weapon behind the scenes.
To create the look, create a side parting on the far right and blow dry, then using the ghd Thin Wand, take small sections of hair from the front and curl them in the same direction, as you away from the face.
“To maintain length and definition, take large V-shaped diagonal sections at the back and curl in,” says Earnshaw. With a tail comb and “using long silver pins and a finger wave motion on the top of the wave, start sculpting the hair.” Leave the bobby pins and spray hairspray, set the hair with your hair dryer and leave your hair with the pins for an hour.
