Marvel’s Wolverine became Silver Surfer after an Adamantium X-Men invention

Wolverine just became a different kind of Silver Surfer at Marvel, but not the kind that Galactus chose. And this one is … a little weird.

WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for X-Force # 25, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

Wolverine (aka the mutant Logan) has held many titles over the course of his extraordinarily long life. He’s been a soldier, weapon, statue, and member of the X-Men, but his new gear turned him into Krakoa’s version of Marvel’s Silver Surfer.

X-Force # 25 (by Benjamin Percy, Robert Gill and Guru eFX) opens with Forge doing Wolverine a favor by creating an adamantium coated surfboard for him made from Krakoan balsa wood. Next, Logan took his new board to one of Krakoa’s beaches to ride the waves off Mutant Utopia. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Forge has used an adamantium coating to aid Wolverine, as he keeps an “adamantium punch bowl” in his shop to coat Logan’s skeleton and claws whenever he is. ‘he is risen. Right after seeing the bowl for the first time, Wolverine said it gave him an idea and asked Forge if he could do something to him.

Forge talks to Wolverine about his Adamantium surfboard in X-Force

Forge has always been the tech specialist for the X-Men, but his new role as Krakoa’s weapons expert has seen him create some of the most innovative tech the world has ever seen. His abilities as a technopath mutant give him a genius-level intellect that has enabled him to create thousands of incredible inventions, but Wolverine’s new adamantium surfboard could take the cake for his most ridiculous creation yet.

While the Adamantium Surfboard is certainly a cool new addition to Wolverine’s arsenal of advanced weaponry, it’s a dangerous waste of Krakoa’s resources and Forge’s time. Time and time again, the X-Men have tried to enter the global market using their amazing technology, but they have always failed in one way or another. One of the more recent examples is the Multiple Man energy machine which ended up malfunctioning and killed one of the Multiple Man clones in the process, publicly embarrassing the X-Corp in front of their investors and staff. Of the industry. While the X-Men have all won a well-deserved beach vacation, Krakoa’s deepest secret is about to be revealed to the rest of the world, so they have little time to waste energy and resources on a weird unique weapon / vehicle.

Nonetheless, it’s still refreshing to see Wolverine having fun while being free from the nightmares and haunting realities he constantly lives with.

While testing his new board, Logan encountered a few surfers who were later found to have infiltrated the island to steal some of the Bowery’s babies. Hopefully Wolverine takes his new adamantium coated surfboard on a mission to stop the theft of the Thieves’ Baby before it’s too late to thwart their plans for the next generation of mutants.
