APPOINTMENT

Universal Music Archives of the Republic in the United States appointed Sam taylor as the new leader of his hip hop and R&B A&R team. He joined the label as an A&R EVP last year. “Sam understands the culture of hip hop and R&B on a fundamental level,” says Republic co-founder Avery Lipman. “He really has an incredible ear for talent and the rare ability to not only spot the next wave, but also to provoke it.”

Universal Music Motown records in the United States appointed Courtney lowery to the newly created role of EVP Media Strategy & Lifestyle. “Courtney has not only distinguished himself as an effective media strategist, but has become an integral part of the culture through her work with some of today’s greatest artists and platforms,” said the label’s CEO, Ethiopia Habtemariam. “I am delighted to welcome Courtney to our leadership team as we continue to redefine and reshape what Motown Records is today.”

Utopia Music hired Tony latham as vice president of its Investor Services division. “I am honored to join such an innovative company with the best interests of music creators at its heart,” he says. “It truly is a company that seeks to make a real difference and bring transformational change to our industry – to provide transparency and fairness to music creators and to deliver increased value to its custodians. His vision is bold and ambitious and I am extremely excited to participate in its realization.

Anne Marie has released the video for his Ed Sheeran co-written song “Beautiful”.

Burial will release the new EP ‘Antidawn’ on January 6th. According to a press release, he “reduces Burial’s music to its vapors”.

Nick’s cave and Warren ellis have released ‘Les Cerfs’, the second song from their soundtrack to the upcoming film ‘La Panthère Des Neiges’.

CONCERTS AND VISITS

Yves Tumor has announced UK and Ireland tour dates in March of next year. Starting at Strange Brew in Bristol on March 5, the tour will also take place at Troxy in London on March 8.

PRICE

the Music Producers Guild will add two new categories to its annual awards ceremony next year: Vocal Producer of the Year and Rising Star. It will also revive the Unsung Hero award. The ceremony will take place in June 2022, and public submissions will open on January 4.
