Utopia offers Bangor diners something different

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – If you’re hungry for a burger or pizza in the town of Bangor – it’s not hard to find a spot.

TV5 spoke of a local woman who wanted to give people something a little different …

She therefore took matters into her own hands with Utopia.

“I didn’t want to manage for others anymore because you work more than 80 hours a week and you can’t do your own hours. live your life the way you want to.

After working for others for years, Rachel Moyse decided it was time for a change.

“When I came back I was like, okay I’m going to do this,” she said. “If no one else does, I will. “

She opened Utopia.

“Utopia basically needs happiness, and I want everyone to feel welcome as if they were part of their family,” she explained.

“A lot of people think that Mediterranean cuisine is just Greek food. It’s not that we’re pan-Mediterranean, so we have Moroccan, French, Italian, even a few Egyptian options, the whole shebang.

Rachel does that’s it.

“100% locally owned, it’s just me,” she said. “I’m from here, and I’m the chef and the owner, so my hands are on every detail, which is super important.”

Adding: “You actually eat organic. We are organic here, even my wines are certified organic. So you can eat and drink and you don’t feel disgusting afterwards.

“Always fresh,” confirms client June Horr. “I’ve never had anything on this menu that I didn’t like trying at all. I am here all the time.

You may remember the location of Hammond Street from his previous life as Massimo.

“The yard itself is like an experience as soon as you walk through it, you don’t just walk through the front door, you walk through the yard, the brick – everything,” Moyse said. “You feel like you’re not in Bangor anymore, you feel like you’ve walked into another town or village or something.”

“I’m here because I like it, no one opens a restaurant because it’s easy,” she said. “We are opening it because we would like to.”
